Dark Venus Persephone is a good song!!

I first listenned to SON OF THE SUN, and to tell the truth,

The songs that made me love THERION was LEMURIA and EMERALD CROWN!!

And now I love all therion´s music, even SON OF THE SUN!!

The very first song I heard was Baal Reginon which caught my attention... I meant to check out more of their songs but it wasn't until a few months later I met someone who is a huge Therion fan and he gave me all of their music...
It was Siren of the Woods that made me fall in love with them, it was and still is the most beautiful song I've ever heard, and also the whole album Lemuria. :)

I bought the album``Deggial´´ and first I thought ``What´s that for a strange sound?´´, but then I heard the song Deggial and liked it very much... I think that Deggial is one of the best songs they ever made...

I dunno really, I heard a lot of their songs at my cousins place, but the first 2 songs I began listening to on my own was Uthark Runa and secret of the runes.

That would be The Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah. Here's the story.

I've always been into rock/metal with choral and orchestral elements (think Final Fantasy soundtracks). So a friend of mine suggested I check out this band Therion. T-H-E-R-I-O-N. Yes, he had to spell it out for me. I got home, searched for some of their stuff and The Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah was the first thing that popped up. Hooked ever since!

Haha. Funny thing is I only bought Vovin pretty recently. I already heard most of the songs on the internet but Vovin is such a must have album I just had to get it. Finally owning it felt like homecoming to me!

I just realized I never replied in this topic.
Can't say what the first song was that I heard, since my first encounter with Therion was in Essen in 1995. I went with some friends to "a gig in germany". I didn't even know what bands were playing. When I got there, I didn't know any band, so I just started drinking. During one of the bands, I heard the singer shout "Hail mighty warrior of doom". I started listening to them, and the songs was pretty cool. Can't remember much of the rest of the songs, but most songs were from an album called "Symphony Masses - Ho Drakon Ho Megas". I ended up going home wearing a hdhm tour longsleeve and bugging my friends to play my new cd in the car on the way back.
Konstanz: "Ich habe eine frage für euch...
Frenkie: "Can you say?"
Konstanz: "Indeed, KUTULU!"

nearly 3 years ago i was very excited by Nightwish music, thats why i tried to find other good female fronted bands. One beautiful day i found Therions song "Black Sun" in my local network, and then during few months i listened to all Therions albums from 1996 and finally understood that it is the best music i ve ever heard :-)

You feel a longing for the stars
Enter the limitless
Answer the call you hear
When you take the step
To free yourself from modern life

I'm not sure but the first song I heard must have been Wine of Aluqah or Birth of Venus Illegitima. Me and a friend went through his metal videos (long time ago now) on his PC at a LAN and we came across those two Therion videos. It was live from... Poland I believe? From 1998, but we saw these in 2002 or so. It wasn't the music that struck me first though, but the vocalist was just so fiiine (it was Martina Astner). The second thing that struck me was that the crowd sucked. The third thing that struck me however was that the songs were just plain awesome.

Nevertheless, I didn't get into Therion back then because I got the "wrong" albums. I should've bought Theli or Vovin but instead I got Lepaca Kliffoth. I like that album now but back then I was like "wow, won't go there". It turned me off on Therion for years, until a friend sent Uthark Runa to me and I recognized the band name and hey: "I kind of like this song". Some days after that I got Lemuria and Sirius B, then Theli and Vovin, and then the rest of the bands discography. And that's that.

PS. The song that however "sealed the deal" for me was Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah, such an intense song.

Please do not include Therion among these female fronted bands, which major part of them sucks. They are more than that. ;)

Hum, I don't remember exactly, but I think it was "The Dreams Of Swedenborg" or "Prometheus Entfesselt"... and then the entire album "Lemuria".

Oh but I would totally love to start a band that sounds like Therion.  Not to be a copycat, but just because I love the music and want to play and sing it myself.  I'll be getting a keyboard soon so I can start learning some Therion songs, not because I plan to start a Therion cover band, but because I just want to know how to play them.  At some point, if I do start or join a band with a Therion sound, for sure we'd have to do at least ONE cover.  The cover I think I'd like to do is "Morning Star."  It's a good one vocally.  I could sing that one easy.

Probably Eye of Shiva was the first Therion song I've heard. I was amazingly impressed by the guitar solo and the choir afterwards.
