The intention is also to make a different type of show, not just same as always but with orchestra, something unique.

To Mega Therion was not played because there was no nice arrangements to do based on the keyboardparts in it (that would be playable) and I also don't like the idea of shouting vocals in an evening like this. We play To Mega Therion on all other shows. This is something different.

It really was something different. The setlist was perfect for the occasion although I was slightly disappointed at the beginning when OFFman showed it to me. Now I think that only Adulruna was missing.
That's her, exactly! The Metal Granny. 8-)

Hahahahaha... Metal Granny! Great!

Response to your edit:
As for the photos, it doesn't really matter what body they had. Consider this. A telephoto lens has an apperture of approximately f/5-7 on the zoom end, your lens had f/1.8... and as your pictures are already in the high ISO range, I don't see it possible for them to make it any better. They can't use very slow shutter speeds, either, as the scene is far from static.

 We can continue the lens discussion somewhere else if you want.

This goes for me too........... an extraordinary, mesmerising concert, unforgetable, dynamic, emotional
Fans were totally overwhelmed and I am so happy to have been there.
Thanks to Christofer, Petters, Mats, Lori, Johann, Kristian, to Richard (a cool guy btw) and his team and thanks to Maestro Markus Stollenwerk who was damned cool on the stage, leading all these classical musicians.
Also thanks to the hungarian soloists and choir and orchestra.
It was an event to remember

Thank you blake for articulating it for me. I can only repeat your words.

I'm also grateful that I could bring my camera at the concert. I had already had different scenarios prepared and I was ready to give up the battery or memory card in case the security didn't let me in. It was such a fun taking those photos and share them with you here. I uploaded some of them here http://majda.deviantart.com/ and the rest on www.myspace.com/svitogora. I also have some pics of Marcus, Lasse, MissSwan, our cool Mexican Japanese guy  :-D and OFFman, of course. So if you want them, send me an e-mail.

What would be  the point in having an orchestra on stage to perform songs without orchestral parts?

Chris, funny to say, but that was exactly what I thought you'd do - extra 2-3 songs after all the orchestra have left the scene in the end :)
Anyways, I'd like to sum up with all the previous commentors - the show was brilliant! In some moments (e.g. the first song in 'Therion songs' part) Therion part of music was tuned not in the best way, but already on the second song all came back sounding excellent, thanks to your team :)

Let me give you lots more of great thanks for all your music and these brilliant ideas like classical concerts and 20-year tour announced :) We're sad that you will not come to Russia with one of those 16 shows but anyway we're going to choose one of them and come to Europe for them :)

Hands up for the mature lady at the bass string instrument!!! She was enjoying it like a rock star, she was very cool!
She rules
Yes she does. \m/ \m/

perhaps Therion will play with the old lady as a surprise guest  one day .....   8-)
Or maybe on the next album it will be written

In close cooperation with: The old lady from Miskolc  :-)

However, the organisers of the festival wish to invite a metal band every year to make these crossover-concerts. So prepare for that. ;) We might have Therion again in 2009 or 2010.
or in 2009 AND 2010... 8-)

There were old ladies in the audience, for God's sake. I was so angry.
And very young ladies also (<10).

agree with Hekse that Clavicula Nox is probably my favourite song of the whole show. Judit Molnar was also very very good, did a great job on Lemuria ;D
Clavicula Nox was my favourite also. And I liked the voice of Judit Molnar very much. I can't help it, I'm just weak on mezzosopranos (like Tarja Turunen). Those dark, full female voices that are high, yet deep... :-)

I think it was a very wise decision to have less instrumentists and more choir than in Bucharest... the sound was a lot better.
I think the same. I like vocals in music very much... Strong vocal performance sends tingles down my spine...something never done by instrumental performance...

[dreaming] I would like to hear:
To Megatherion
Birth Of Venus Illegitima
Crowning of Atlantis
Mark Of Cain
Son Of The Son
Melek Taus
...
[/dreaming]

Out of those 6 songs, 3 of them don't have any orchestral parts at all... What would be  the point in having an orchestra on stage to perform songs without orchestral parts?

I didn't know that Therion reads their official forum...Now I'm so embarassed on my ignorance.

@harmonia:
Yes, I (actually we) meant her... Metal Granny! :-D
I had a part in everything
Twice I destroyed the light and twice I failed
I left ruin behind me when I returned(:-P)
But I also carried ruin with me

MissSwan, please can I post your videos on Therion community in orkut? The people there would love to see them. :-D

How I'd like to be in this show... :(

Reading those comments I get more and more sad. :|

Hehe,Miss Swan...we travelled together by metro in Budapest at morning after the show  :-)/I was with my Mom,we have both red hair.../
It was lovely to read that everyone enjoy the show    I'm so pride 'cause it's happened in our country  :-)
I'm very curious about band members' opinions and comments of the show.Miss Swan, you surely talked with them about it,could you tell us too? :-) I would asked it from band members directly but I think they don't read this page - maybe just Chris...:-) /well,Chris,could you tell us more, please? :-) /
I found so good that To Mega Therion wasn't played :-P It's on every concert and start to be boring.../I know,it's not a consolation those who never heard it in live.../I think it's very cool that I hear always songs what never before - for example:Thor from Manowar in february or In Remembrance some years ago/what a song!!!/ and now Sirius B,WOOOOAAAAHHH!!!!!
It's naturaly that weren't played clearly metal songs on this orchestral show - Therion are not Metallica :-D

Hello!

This is my first post on the board, but I'm a huge fan of the band!
Miskolc is my hometown, I was born in the city, but now I'm living in the western part of Hungary.
But I always was and I always will proud of my roots and my 'hometown'.
That was a great evening last saturday.
Thanks to all who made this possible.
My dreams went true.
Cheers!

P.S.: I will post two 'lil goodies soon, if I can...

Wow 6o6, the picture is great! Did you made that one?
O and btw you should be proud of Miskolc! I spent two days there and I'm impressed. Although the scars of half a century of comunistic neglect cannot be so easily removed, you feel positive vibes in the air. There is positive atmosphere everywhere, and a lot of people and happenings on every corner... :-)

I'm also grateful that I could bring my camera at the concert. I had already had different scenarios prepared and I was ready to give up the battery or memory card in case the security didn't let me in.
Yeah it's great Therion and organizers allowed taking cameras inside. I also thought about the case they won't let me to take my camera inside. So I had prepared the scenario to hide it somewhere on the graveyard next to the venue, and then to pick it up after the concert. Fortunately, that was not necessary. :-D

Yep, it's a great picture, I think... You can see that smile on her face...!

I saw that graveyard - it's  beautiful. I'll remember it for a big statue of an angel, drizzle and ˝Seawinds˝.  :-)

To be honest I wasn't sure if it was allowed to take cameras inside, so I hided mine in a small secret compartment of my rucksack. And the security didn't find it while checking my rucksack. I was happy that I "tricked" them, but then I realized that bunch of people had cameras also. So I guessed it was actually allowed...

My friends and I went through entrance with two camera bags worn on two of us :)
No one said a word. I've also thought that cameras were alliowed officially.

Strange. I'm so sorry. I thought, like NeMo and bodomic, that cameras were allowed.

I think normally with all concerts cameras are not allowed. Nor allowed to record the music. Otherwise someone could record the show, make a dvd and sell it. But people usually sneak them in anyway.

I have been told (at the Therion concert at vienna, this year) that small/average cameras are no problem, but cameras that look too much professional are not allowed - at least one security guy told me
