This will be ending the conversation from my end.
Do you really think Lori might be able to sing Der Hölle Rache? I'll belive it once I hear it .
That's the type of role her voice fits really good to, so congratulations making a fool out of our self (again). She even did it live before with with Aesma Daeva as far as I remember. I think there's live shots on You Tube with them performing it with their previous singer Melissa, which is not as good as Lori.
She also did a great job with Irene in Rienzi when we performed it in Hungary even though it's not a perfect role for her (which will be heard on the DVD next year). Way better than the more famous soprano in Bucharest did and she was also better than the the mezzos doing Adriano.
Don't know if she could get famous being a professional opera soprano, as there are plenty of better singers (at the moment) than her.
What kind of moron comment is that??
For a start, you can be good without being famous and there are famous people that don't live up to their reputation. Secondly, why would it matter if there's others that are better? Kristian is probably not top 100 in the world, yet he's without doubt a DAMN good guitar player. Is he not worth paying for seing live just because Malmsteen, Uli Roth, Steve Vai and the rest of the hall of fame in great guitarists is above him? Wouldn't be many bands left on the planet worth you money then it seems...
Furthermore the vast majority of opera houses are performing your beloved schlager music with singers that are way below the worlds singing elite. For a couple of years the Royal Opera in Stockholm had many "terrible" singers and I've worked with people from several German opera houses on the records and even though I found them good, they're no stars or world top 100 singers.
How can you stand listening to the Therion albums? No World Stars from the opera scene there either, so let's start making a list of great opera singers of our time that do
other things sounding much better than those singing on the records - that's totally meaningful and will ultimately prove that Therion sucks in the studio too. Can't see how you managed to miss that.
Obviously Lori doesn't have the depth and strength of a dramatic, such as Waltraud Meier, but that doesn't allow her to be "forgiven" because of that. If you sing a role that is not your tessitura, it's your problem, not the audience's.
Look, this is SO simple.
I've used a variety of different type of sopranos on the records over the years, lyrical, mezzo, dramatic and coloratura, also with different personal colours to it to fit each composition. Live we can not bring with us 4 different sopranos. If we did it would have been clearly announced. As it wasn't, it should be clear to anyone that somewone (Lori) would act as our Swiss army knife and do all these voices. Even alt voices like in Lemuria.
If you have a problem with this type of arrangement and if it's not good enough for you with one great allround singer, then it was clear already from the start and you should have staid home and given place to someone else who actually appreciate that we try to pull this difficult project together. We have announced what will be performed in advance, both who performs and what songs.
So it is actually YOUR problem if you choose to attend and expected an alien with 5 throats or dozens of various singers to perform, not Loris or mine.
Why shouldn't I expect opera-like accuracy? In fact, I think I must ask for that. It's not my fault if the singers don't rest enough. I mean, I pay to hear a good performance, not to hear a bunch of tired metal players.
Every opera house in Europe except in Paris* and Vienna* receives shit loads of money from the state to keep their thing going (maybe you'll learn more about that in he upcoming 10 months?

). As the tax payers don't pay any of our costs, we have to run things in accordance with the current laws of capitalism (meaning we have to pay for everything and thus do the best possible with the financial means at hand). I would gladly accept money from the tax payers to have paid rehearsals, get rediculous fees per show and have the state paying sometimes more than 50% of the ticket price for the fans attending the shows. Meanwhile, we have to do things the way rock bands run business.
* = Therefore you also pay 200 euro for a decent ticket there.
We perform nearly 3 hours with only a short pause. Even Götterdämmerung is "only" 3,5-4 hours of actual music depending on actual tempo and much of that is instrumental ad the rest is diveded by various roles roles. Our long set with loads of singing is very demanding and Lori has a voice of steel actually pulling this off. None of the more famous singers I've worked with would pull that off
and you don't know anyone that for sure would do a better job in this circumstances either. We do 16 of these mega shows in a row without a day off. This is in the official tour schedule where you saw the show you atanded. If if bothers you that we can not have a singer having 3 days of rest between all shows, simply stay home. If it bothers you that the band is possibly 95% instead of 100% due to the schedule - stay home. Most bands are drinking alcohol and do crap shows once in a while due to partying, we stay sober and focused and deliver the best we can during each show in consideration of the circumstances, we don't even cancel shows when people are sick. If you think you know any other band doing what we do better, go and see them instead.
I just want Therion to improve
Right, and by simply complaining that Lori is singing stuff written for 5 different type of female voices and not being able to be among the absolute top world league of sopranos on the entire planet (or what ever you expected), we're actually learning SO much from you. Thank you Mr "I've listened to opera for 10 months".
I should probably stop playing the guitar then as well, I wouldn't make it to even top 1000. Not to mention how I play some parts written by others in a different style in my own way live to suit me better. Must be
truely dissapointing to listen to. I'm sure you listenend to metal for a few years and must then be an expert of stunning proportions considering how
increadibly much you know about opera already and my misstreament of some of the songs must have been truely terrible for your most delicate expert ears.
P.D: By the way, do you really "hate" Verdi and Puccini?
No, it's just not my cup of tea musically, except for some easy evening entertainment once in a while.. They did what they did good. Just like there's quality pop bands that do what they do very good. I don't see anything genious about them though, like I see with with for example Wagner.
