Loud Park '07 Therion in Japan
« on: October 04, 2007, 11:47:40 AM »
YAY! Therion is finally coming to Japan :-)

I will post here on behalf of Japanese fans who have been waiting since Therion released
Lepaca Kliffoth as a Japanese debut album.

Since obvious lack of marketing efforts by Japanese label,Therion will play as a third act and
play for  only 40 minutes or around so.

(Time table: http://www.loudpark.com/timetable/index.html and strange stage layout
http://www.loudpark.com/guideline/map.html)

We really appreiciate that Therion will across the Pacific just for this festival.
Unfortunately we don't have a large number of fans like Latin America but
we belive Therion will blow thousands of Japanese metal heads away in a second.

I also would like to show my gratitude to fellow Therion fans and promoters in Europe
who support and give me advice for fan based promotion.(You know who I am talking about)

Don't forget to mention, thankfully we will have Therion fans from UK and Sweden to enhance the crowd.
Yes, the fan flag will be present in Japan too. dream comes true... :-)

See you all soon!

Hello all Japanese Therion fans

Your dream is finally coming true and I will be there experiencing it with you. I have today arrived in Tokyo and will travel around a bit before the concert.

Please dont hesitate to talk to me at Loud Park. Its easy to recognize me as the big Swedish guy with a beard and shaved head. Please see some pics at my posts from the concert in Sweden.

Look forward to soon meet some of you.

Thor, I hope you are not getting lost in translation, bring home some great adventures - and don't get stuck and become a samurai or anything like that, we want you back in one piece!

A good samurai stays in one piece. Anyway, what would be more frightening than a viking samurai?

More viking samurais?  :-D
Well, maybe Thor gets kidnapped by the crowd in Japan if he used his shoulders to give everyone around him a better view of the stage  :-P

And when he would get tired, and his shoulders cracked down, he would probably have the whole upper part removed and replaced a some robotic ones - or they would simply make a brand new Thor starting from him!  :-o

P.S. I appologise, that was far too much nonsense  :-D

Actually I have already lost contact with him becuase he didn't bring  a mobile phone for contact.
I don't know where he is now. Maybe somewhere in Japan.

@Thor!!
We have changed the time to go to the venue for some reaons.
I will pick you up at 8:25 am.

@ All Therion members.

Best wishes for the US shows and safe trip to the land of rising sun.
Playing around early time is not disadvantage in Japan. Japanese are very cost conscious nation.
We paid 83 euro for the one day ticket. No one would miss any single band. :-)
Especially for the greatest  band's first show in Japan

The one of  reasons why I changed the time to meet Thor to take the venue is that I heard there would be
a super long queue.
I have to get a first row to show the flag to you.

This is not really true. If you just read your e-mails you know perfectly well my plans and where I am. Currently I am in Kyoto and today I have been to the famous city of Nara. I brought a mobile phone, but it's of no use as it's not compatible with the Japanese phone system so now we have to use the old fashion way of scheduling a meeting :-o. However, it worked fine with Koh in Tokyo last weekend.

Thor, I hope you are not getting lost in translation, bring home some great adventures - and don't get stuck and become a samurai or anything like that, we want you back in one piece!

Thanks for the concern. I will return for sure as I can`t miss the reunion with K and Arina the day after I get back to Sweden nor the upcoming Therion stalking tour :-D.

I have recently got back to Tokyo after a 5 hours train ride from Takayama and are now getting ready for Loud Park. With regards to the film "Lost in translation" I recognize the sleeping problem. As I`m an evening person it`s much easier to travel west. Now I should go to bed when I can`t sleep and I have had many plans so I need to get up early too. Still I manage well despite the lack of sleep.

A week in Japan has now passed and I have still not seen Keiko and as I haven`t heard from her I believe the first time will be tomorrow at Loud Park. Strange that I see her a lot more in Europe than now when I`m in Japan.:-(  However, Koh did welcome me to Japan when I arrived and he will stay the whole days at Loud Park. I suppose we will conquer the festival together .

With regards to Loud Park what I heard is that the Japanese have not yet grasped the western concept of being drunk, dirty and see a lot of bands :-P. Some just want to see their favourite band or don`t go as it`s some band they don`t like. Metal festivals here is young with the second year of Loud Park so this may change over time. Tomorrow I will experience it for real and then I may tell you more about that interesting experience.

Gay metal is a favourite topic for Jacob and Jussi. Headlining Loud Park is Marilyn Manson. I actually tried to listen to some of his music and will even hear some of his songs at Loud Park. However, so far what I heard is true gay metal and a pity to have him/it as a headliner. :x

Soon time for Therions first show in Japan. I hope that it will be a great one that`s really appreciated by the Japanese crowd.

The Japanese record company finally announced that they would organized signing session by Therion.
But for only 50 people who buy GK at the venue.

I think Therion fans who really want to say hello to the band already have GK.
That's really shame, the record company only think about their profit not fans. :x :x

Krisitan will have signing session at the Ibanez booth and Petter will do at TAMA booth.

Do we have to buy a guitar or drum kit to greet them??? :-o

I heard that we might have to  buy some merchandise  at the booth
to  meet & greet them.
Plus, we paid 83 Euro for one day ticket and have to buy drink ticket at the gate.

I don't know how much I have to pay to see Therion.... I will take my dog to the venue to sniff the band

Ok report time

Sadly. there are no pictures, but I will try to find the offical posts

They said there was to be no pictures, and I know usually that doesnt stop anyone, but here in Japan people actually follow the rules set down. So sorry no personal pictures.

This show was good, It was Therions first japan show, and for such a short set they played a great range of songs, all the crowd favourites like "Rise of..., To Mega Therion, and Blood Of Kingu" as well as 2 from Gothic Kabbalah. It went down a storm with the crowd, many of whom were for the first time hearing Therion.

I met two guys at the show, never heard of Therion, after they saw them, they were borrowing my Ipod and running off to buy the CD's, if this is anything to go by, Therion has broken into Japan at last.

The crowd at the signing session was decent, but as bands were playing at the same time and due to space, it was a great turnout. We all posed to gether and held up the flag, and the Japanese fans flocked to us to take our photo! Even though me, Thor and Keiko were not even in the band they still took it! wow.

Great show, great day, Come back to Japan were missing you already!

Firstly I would like to thank Therion for flying 11 hours to come Japan. I hope you guys enjoyed Japan and experience some oriental tradition. :-)

It was only 40 minutes but I think everything was perfect for Therion's first stage.
Very big venue, 10,000 audiences (potential Therion fans), great sounds,
being filmed by MTV  etc..
The set list is also perfect choice for Japanese fans.
They were overjoyed  when the band appeared on the stage with beautiful intro of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Well, as Matt said in previous post, responses from audiences were great.
After the show, many people rushed to buy CDs and T-shirts. I can remember, T-shirts were sold out quite soon..

The Japanese record company said, the signing session was initially planed to do by 5 members
but Therion kindly offered all members for it. When I reached at the booth, 50 CDs with a ticket
for signing session were already sold out, however, there were so many people who couldn't get the ticket
so the company let us took pictures instead.

Here is pics from the first Therion's signing session in Japan.

And a sudden photo session by Japanese crowd.

Truly hope to see Therion again.
Loud Park festival 08 ( many bands participatethis festival every year) or a double head line tour can be possible.
Although we cannot express our feelings to the band directly please don't forget about Japan.
We are not good at English and shy to post comments here.

We all love you. :-) :-)

Yes, that's pity.
I was told do not post about it on the public forum before the official announcment.
But  Thomas already wrote it on his webstie.

I don't know the details but  it happened in the US not in Japan.
The Japanese organaizser, the record label and even hotel  receptionists were so
kind and did good job for the band. Japan is very safe and friendly country.

Here comes official pics
http://www.loudpark.com/gallery/index.html

Set List (random order)

Rise of Sodom and Gommorah
Schwarzalbenheim
Tuna 1613
Blood of Kingu
Son of the Stave of times
Son of the Sun
To Mega Therion

P.S
Agnes. I told Thomas to check your mail :-)

Back in Sweden after two weeks in Japan including Therion's first show ever in Japan!

When I arrived in Tokyo I got a welcome from our friend Koh and he took me to some metal clubs in Tokyo.

The following morning we went to the Imperial palace.

The following week I travelled around to Kyoto, Nara and Takayama. Then I returned to Tokyo for a weekend with metal at Loud Park.

After that I went to Nikko, Edo Wonderland, Fuji and Hakone before it was time to head back to Sweden.

The most difficult for me has been the time difference. I had a busy schedule travelling around going up early in the morning which made it terribly difficult to adapt. It would have been a lot easier to adapt if you were up later at nights and slept during the day. Still I manage without much sleep at all during these two weeks.

I left Japan with a lot of impressions from traditional Japan, modern Japan, beautiful sceneries and metal Japan . I will tell you more about Loud Park and Therion's show in the following posts.
