I'm wondering if anyone can confirm whether this is Therion or not playing "O Fortuna"
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4159137224466660065&q=therion&hl=en

I'm guessing it is, since the info for Live in Midgaard says that they played it at some concerts but couldn't put it on the CD due to copyright issues.  What a shame :(

Ah, well after some research I found out that it was on some versions of Deggial, just not the one I bought.

I downloaded the track from iTunes though, so I can confirm myself that it is Therion.

Yeah it used to be the last track on Deggial but then because of some disagreement over the copyright they had to take it off. Because that was probably the best track on the whole cd I sort of feel they should add some sort of bonus song or something for the cds that don't have that song on it

They changed the beat of the song and the family of Carl Orff didn't agree with it. As Orff died in the 1982 they were in their full right to do so, as the composer has to be passed away for at least 75 years for the music to become copyright free.

As it turns out I found (and bought) one of the older version of the CD, which has "o fortuna" plus three tracks from crowning of atlantis.

I'll give my old copy of Deggial to my brother, I'm slowly brainwashing him into loving therion.

I love the Therionized Orff track, but I feel the ending spoils it. In the original it suddenly gets much heavier, what the entire track has been building up to, but in the Therion one, I feel it lets it down. There are no guitars and the orchestral parts are less inspired also. The rest is great though. You can see a video of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra's live performance of their interpretation of the piece, and it is perhaps not as good as Therion's but if I recall correctly they did the ending more justice.

There are guitars through the whole thing. The problem I think was that therion hasn't (at least at the time) mastered the use of silence. Which in the original at the begining the heavy use of silence made it more powerful when it finally hit the peak of the song. So I thought the begining was probably the weakest part of the song and the ending the best. anyway still incredible...

First press has the track on them. After that, O Fortuna got deleted because of the reasons I stated earlier in this thread (and also nearly a year ago).

I had to replace my Deggial CD last year (I wore it out) and I got it through Century Media (CM Distro).  It has O Fortuna on it:   https://www.cmdistro.com/search.aspx?search=Therion      <-----     They still have copies.

Yeah, O Fortuna is quite a nice track on Deggial, but still not as good as some others (my opinion).
For me Deggial is THE Therion CD. I was so amazed when I found out there was this black velvet edition - black velvet was exactly the association I had when I first listened to the CD (which was a burnt copy borrowed from a friend).
Fortunately all other CDs turned out to be just as great, in the end. (Even though I must admit I do not listen to Of Darkness very often).
