OK, so I found "Deggial" at Newbury Comics in Boston for $10.99 (which is VERY cheap by U.S. standards) and it was the last and only copy they had so I grabbed it. I've been listening to it non-stop since I got it and must say it is growing on me. I LOVE LOVE LOVE "Seven Secrets of the Sphynx" but that's actually the big reason I wanted it. I'd already heard this and liked it. But "Enter Vril-Ya" and "Emerald Crown" are also standing out as strong contenders for favorite songs.

What's everyone else's opinion on this CD? What is your favorite song from Deggial?

Deggial is a fantastic album, too bad it was released by a band like Therion that has other even more fantastic albums

favourite songs would be: Deggial, Flesh of the Gods, Via Nocturna and The Invincible

$10.99 = €6.91 which is almost free by EU standards

anyway deggial has quite a few cool tracks there

When I first listened to the album I liked Seven Secrets of the Spinx because it was more like music I was used to, but over time I came to not care for the song much and began liking other songs more. Obviously Via Nokturna is probably the best song Therion ever did in my opinion. Secondly I love Emerald Crown. Been begging Therion to play and release that live. Mainly I just love the violen parts on that song. I used to love O fortuna as well. Yet looking back I think it could have been done better. Simply because I've heard about 20 or so different performances of that song by different people.

I have Deggial with O Fortuna on it.

My favs are: Seven Secrets, Enter Vril-Ya, Deggial, Flesh Of The Gods and Via Nocturna (best Therion song for me too).

Deggial and Sirius B were albums I never liked so much like the other ones. But last month I give a proper listening to Deggial and I became crazy about it

My favourite are Seven Secrets of the Sphinx, Enter Vril-Ya and for me the best one: Via Nocturna. I adore the part where it turns for a while almost to a classical concert!
However - the album is whole great.

I don't like Seven Secrets much, really. I think it lets the album off to disappointing start, but as soon as it ends, the rest of the album is far beyond anything released by any other band.

Except Secret of the Runes, obviously!

O Fortuna is on mine (Scarecrow's edition)

My favorite songs on this album are The Invincible, Flesh Of The Gods, Via Nocturna, O Fortuna of course, Ship of Luna, I love all of them

Well the awesome thing of the Deggial album , is the black velvet case and the o fortuna track. Well not everyone has the black velvet digi but ...I DO !!

Ahhh Deggial was my first Therion album, and I still remember hearing it for the first time... It was a transcendental moment that forever changed my perception of music...

first album of Therion I heard was Deggial when I was playing with my brother in a game of Battle Tech III
but my adventure with Therion started with Lepaca Kliffoth. I'm sitting right now at school in a library

and I'm listening to Deggial right now. Eternal Return at the moment.

Deggial is definetly my favourite album... I've listened this album so many times, that I even use song Deggial (along with Rise Of Sodom And Gommorah from Vovin) for sound system tuning on gigs

``Deggial´´ was the first album I got of Therion (baaaaaaad English, sorry)... The best songs are Enter Vril-Ya, Deggial and Flesh Of The Gods

The Invincible and the title track are my favorites. I got to see Deggial performed live so I consider myself special.

Also, I'm a pretty big Blind Guardian fan, but had no idea Hansi sung on Flesh of the Gods until I heard it. Imagine my suprise when I hear his familiar voice on a Therion album! Pretty sweet moment, really.

Deggial is still my favorite Therion album, I picked it up first week it was released in a music store in Portsmouth, NH. Via Nocturna is still the greatest song!

I first got SOTR album..so I listened to Deggial later..If I remember correctly Chris said in some interview that this album has been better sold even out of Europe than Theli or Vovin or any other. It is indeed an outstanding album..

I love it from the begging till the end..maybe I could say my best song here is The Invincible..or Via Nocturna..

The album starts out greatly! That... brusque opening with Seven Secrets. Explosive!

Eternal Return calms your mind for what is coming next. Not a song I really like alone, but it suits the album.

Vril-ya is great - excelent instrumental!

Ship of Luna... I think I can say the same I said about Eternal Return...

The Invincible was one of my first Therion songs. Veeeery good. Very Therion! A must-like.

I don't like Deggial, the song, that much now, but it was one of my favourites in the past.

Emerald Crown... nothing special about it. I like the vocal part and the instrumental that accompanies it... too slow...

Am I the only one here LOVING The Flight of the Lord of Flies? Really classical, you should enjoy it!

The Flesh of Gods is another great one: Great instrumental, great but great voice! Something different you must listen to.

Via Nocturna is an epic, magnificent! The atmosphere it creates makes you feel like you're inside the song.

O Fortuna... well... I love Carl Orff's composition. And it was TRULY my first Therion song. Very good cover, it's something different, but the outcome is great!

So many praise up there in my commentary, but the only thing I have to say after this would be... Deggial is, in my opinion, one of Therion's worse albums. For those who haven't heard much of them, imagine how much the other albums mean to me!

I have the scarecrow and nuclear blast editions of Deggial.The scarecrow verison has three bonus tracks crowning of alantis,lthe wings of the hydra(live) and the wrongly spelled "seewinds" both verisons have o fortuna on it.This is a great cd with the invincible,deggial and flesh of the gods being my favorities.I really didn't like this cd much when it came out but as time went by it has become one of the top 4 of all their cds in my opioion.It is weird that SOTR is some many peoples favorite because of all their cds it is one of my least favs.It has nothing to do with the subject matter as i am into runes ,it is just the music.I thihk Enslaved's Isa is a good cd if you are into runes problably because of the "ice " rune and in many ways the world today relates to this rune.But you have to like the harsh death-metal style to be into Enslaved(i have no idea what to call Enslaved's music other then great black/death prog viking metal and what ever adj. you want to add).

Deggial along with Sirius B is one of their worst releases in my opinion. Although it has its moments- Seven secrets..., Flesh of the gods and son of the sun are awesome songs..

dont get me wrong: I have this album on a regular jewel case version cd and the limited black velvet digi, both including o fortuna as a binus

I have to say that with exception of Kali Yuga I do not like Sirius B as much as other albums. For example I didn't like Deggial in the beginning too but at least more than Sirius B. I'm afraid I won't ever like Sirius B so much...

Btw my Deggial is also with O Fortuna.

Deggial was the Album that got me into Therion. I consider it as the best Album I possess. even though it is hard what with all the other Therion Albums around

I like every single song on this masterpiece, especially Ship of Luna and Deggial.
IMO Deggial is only a very good song, but I just love the part when they sing "Deggial, tell the truth that man is but beast and for the reason of that....". It's not the text but the music of that piece... probably nothing special but I just love it.

Funny thing about that album is that when I first listened to it (a friend has given me an (illegal) copy of it) my impression was that of black velvet... later I realized that there was indeed a limited edition in black velvet. Bought it straight away.

Newbury Comics is such a good store. It's where I got my velvet Deggial.

Emerald Crown, Deggial, and The Invincible are my favorite songs off the CD.

Does your copy have O Fortuna at the end?
