If you want to order metal Cd's in america Century Media/Nuclear Blast is one of the best. They also sell stuff at amazon under the name of West coast metal. They have alot of sales during the year just sign up for a news letter.I have bought about 75 or 80 cd's the last couple of years and they make no misakes. One time I got a bunch of cracked Cd jewel cases (from shipping)and they sent me more than enough to switch out the broken ones.i think now all deggial cds have o fortuna at the end.It was left off the live at midgard because of copywrite rules but I don't think it was ever pulled from deggial. It might have been at one time I am not sure but because of what it is written in the liner notes of midgard it causes some confusion.

No, my copy of Deggial does not have "O Fortuna".

I really love the orchestration on Deggial though.  The more I listen to it, the more "epic" it sounds.  It's REALLY great to have playing when I'm setting up for rituals.  It totally sets a mood, that's for sure.

Yeah I'm hoping Therion will do another album with heavy orchestration. Deggial is a bit weak in parts as far as the guitar work. Though the acoustic stuff is good for a change. So if they did a newer album with a lot of symphony it would probably be much better. I'm thinking it might be the next album given that Chris recently wrote an entire symphony song (remake of Clavicula Nox) and also the great time to be spent on this next album.

I love the orchestra and violen parts a lot. You just can't find that anywhere else in metal exept for Haggard. Though Leaves Eyes might go heavy orchestra with their next album. Have to wait and see.

I was getting the vibe, based on what Chris has said in interviews and in public about "Gothic Kabbalah", is that HE is not really that happy with the way it came out.  And maybe for that reason -- it seemed to stray from all the orchestrated stuff they'd been doing up until then.  There's way more metal-sounding vocals on this more than any Therion release since "Theil" and I'm not sure that's what he'd intended.  Of course I am just guessing, this is my opinion, or I could just be reading between the lines too much and be way off base.

Personally, that is how I feel about it.  I don't really like "Gothic Kabbalah" to tell you the truth.  It has its moments but...has so far failed to grow on me.  If it garnered them new fans then great.  I hope they'll enjoy what came before it and I hope what comes after it is better.  But GK is just not moving me and that's a bad sign (for me).

what did Chris say to make you think this? Gothic Kabbalah is mostly the band's album. Every album is different so not a big deal. I favor the orchestra and metal more myself but I love Gothic Kabbalah. For one it is the best produced and the best in regards to recording quality. The songs themselves I think are enjoyable and complex. But seriously put up a link or tell me what chris wrote?

I love Deggial, like I love most Therion albums. What makes it special is the laid back metal and heavy orchestration. Via Nocturna is the embodyment of the kind of Therion I would like to hear more of, and Eternal Return would be close, if not for some uninspired (in my opinion) guitar riffs (2:02, 5:40 through 6:20).

Emerald Crown is also a nice violin piece that would have worked nice in a classical Therion show. Ship of Luna and Enter Vril-ya are strong compositions. The Invincible is a great athmospheric acoustic song, and the choir works great. The title song is great, but they could have dumped the final metal part, since the contrast is way too strong.

Flesh of the Gods is the counterweight song to an otherwise non-metal album, and The Flight of The Lord of Flies and O fortuna are strong Therionized classical songs.

What I really don't like is the Seven Secrets of the Sphinx song, all because of the chorus. It sounds like some cheeky children mock-singing, and it really takes you out of the moodBut the album as a whole is a great one and it works great with Vovin, the other not-so-metal Therion album.

Finally someone with the same tastes that I have! Yeah Seven Secrets of the Sphinx is an okay song but it sounds a lot like crowning of atlantis (guitar wise) only not as good. It is seems like a song that could have been written really quickly without much effort and it also doesn't go well with the rest of teh album. Eternal Return yes the Iron Maiden guitars doesn't go with the rest of the song, if those parts were rewritten it would be a lot better song as the intro and such are really good. I love the concept of Deggial- the idea of very heavy orchestration. But the execution sucked in a lot of places. Via Nocturna was a perfect example of what Deggial songs should sound like. Then songs like Eternal Return show some lame writing in my opinion. Yet people on this board have argued with me about what a great song seven secretes of the sphinx is.

Deggial is my favorite album...

I love all tracks, but in especial:

  • "Deggial", similar to songs in The Omen Soundtrack
  • "The Flight Of The Lord Of Flie", a Flight of the Bumblebee for Therion
  • "Eternal Return", great rhapsody with solemn violin, good metal and persian sound

I have black velvet edition
