It seems some bots have discovered this forum to spam at. Until we have a solution, please don't reply to those topics, but only report them using the report function. We (the moderators and admins) will then be able to delete them and also get a good impression of the amount of spam on these forums.

If the post contains explicit imagery containing any kind of nudeness, please tell that in the report. I preferably don't have that kind of artwork on my screen at work...

Time to implement an activation system? On the Jem forums (Ibanez nerd site), they have a subforum where you have to make a post before you can post elsewhere, seems to keep the bots out.

Due to the continuous spamming on this forum, I've changed the user permissions based on post count. You now need at least two posts in topics before you can start a topic. Please verify that you are mentioned as a User rather than a New User.

If you can't do things you could do before, please drop me a PM.

Yes. People may have to post two or three times now to get the right to start new topics back. I'm not sure how that kind of stuff is implemented on this forum.

I get the same thing at home. I get like 10 phone calls a day with the same recorded message about my vehicles warrnaty and one that says they are giving away a free vacation. So I said ok send the tickets and they kept calling back asking me questions then after like the 3rd phone call they were like "we are going to throw in a free car rental, free hotel etc." we just need your credit card number. I'm like I thought it was free why do you need a credit card? "uh to verify the car rental" I'm like I don't need one just send me the cruise tickets. They are like "where are you going to stay? You will need to rent a car to get around" It's like a free vacation to Florida. The thing is I lived in florida for years and have relatives down there. So I'm like just send me my free cruise tickets and the guy is like give me your credit card number I'm like I thought it was free then he goes "nothing in life is free!" and hung up on me. Now I keep getting the recorded message from them still.

I was going to try to trace the people and hunt them down and beat the sh*t out of them and burn down their building but I don't want to go to jail over such petty things. These people that spam are criminals. Half of the spam are scams to steal people's money.

I noticed that a couple of new posters are putting up a poll question and in the next post or two are putting up way too many links.Be careful about clicking on these,I have noticed too people are responding when they should not.i.ei. new verison of therion song and other posts

Please do report them to the moderators. A link is available at the bottom of each post saying "Report to moderator". Please use that and write a clear description of why you reported the post. It makes it easier for us to track down these posts.

I think I disabled polls for new users. I'd have to check that.

Edit:
New users are only allowed to reply to topics. Please notify us of any malicious posts using the report function.

Today there were many spam posts and I reported a few but look over" new members post here".Some of these were a few hours old, so please report these and get them off as quick as we can, if you check the site just to see what is new.Spammers look for sites like this one and hope their junk stays up as long as it can, WE MUST KILL HOPE!

Well, I guess each of the mods who can delete those messaes doesn't intentionally allow them to get many hours old. But as soon as we see them, we wipe them off.

it looks like users with 0 posts can shit freely everywhere, even make new threads.

isn't it possible to submit to a moderator's check the first few posts by any new user?

Almost all the forums now days does this. You have to wait like a week or something and have three posts before you can start a topic. And also when you are on this trial period your posts must be approved. So you post some stuff in the new user section and all that and in a week you are in.
