New Age
« on: June 06, 2004, 06:36:00 PM »
While listening to my beloved Enigma, Era, Lesiem... and others an idea came into my mind:
Does such kind of new age, deep, mistical, with gregorian chants match with metal, especially like Therion?
IMO it does and a lot. It is by all means as philosophical and meditative....
 Beauuuuutiful...
 And how d'you think?

There might indeed be some common elements   :D

I really agree.
I'm still waiting for a real New Age-Metal band.
Althoug to me Therion is making a lot of that dream true already. Especially in Lemuria, using the choirs, it already sounds quite 'New-Agey'..

It is true that Therion is sort of like that. They do incorporate chants and atmospheric elements often found in new age music. They are always innovative and if any band can incorporate new-agey stuff into metal and do it justice both to the style they are incorporating and to metal, it would be Therion.

Yes!! precisely. In fact, all that is what I love of Therion sound. I really like new age music, but the special thing of Therion, is that makes a "dark atmosphere" with this "new agy" or mystical touch they have, and which is a characteristic of their sound. We can call it kinda dark mystic/religious touch. This is also because I really like gregorian chant, and Therion with their choirs give this sensation, this deep heavenly atmosphere with heavy music, simply great!. I just must say that I love all that of Therion,'cause is a mixture of music I really love.

I must add that I really love the male choirs of Therion, and "An arrow from the sun" rules!!!!
