Hmmm the whole language thing doesn't seem to have been cleared up (unless I missed a comment). I think Haioth Hakodesh actually made a mistake in saying it was turkish, he confused it with persian.

Err... I once had a discussion with an arab woman who told me the persians had taken a lot of mythology and folklore from the arabs, so the lyrics of this song might be completely translated by someone who knows the persian language.

I hope I'm not missing a point here and the persian language actually does exist... it's just my two cents...

Argh, this is so confusing, and I thought the lyrics were Arabic!

Oh yeah, just liked to note, Al-E'war means "The One Eyed" which refers to the Dajjal or Deggial (Therion's) which is the Islamic version of the Antichrist.

I am not exactly sure, but Iblis and Shaitan are names for either Satan OR Melek Taus. I suppose it's about Melek Taus, especially because "Ya Zat-i" reminds me of "Yezidi" (also spelled Yazidi), it's probably just a different word for the tribe.

I was watching the last episode of Lost and when this scene came up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3llGema-Q0 Wine of Aluqah came right to my mind, what is neater is a couple of moments later the "Smoke Moster" appears from the cave.Maybe nothing to do with this song but it is a bond between Jacob and the woman he thinks is his mother.

hi, this is my first post, so bare with me  :-D

I'm Arabic (and Muslim), and to end the discussion about the language this is it:
the main verses are said in Arabic, but it's a very bad Arabic, because the Arab pronunciation is really hard, however its still Arabic.

first, I want to clear a naming problem, please note:
Shaitan (in Arabic شيطان) is generally a "demon" or any evil entity, the word is Arabic and its the origin of the English "Satan"
Iblis (in Arabic إبليس) is "Satan" the lord of darkness himself, the ruler of all "Shaitans". the word is also Arabic.
now Iblis might be called Al-Shaitan (meaning THE Shaitan) because when you say "The Shaitan" you are being specific, and you mean the master of them all.

now, as for the verses, what they are saying is the following:

El-A'awer. Talbis Iblis.
Gulshan-i-Raz. Zat-i-Shaitan

each one separately:

1- El-A'awer : the one-eyed
in Arabic الأعور
a symbol of deception and evil, according to Muslim belief in the end of time the Antichrist will appear a one-eyed man, that leads to world to destruction, so basically it means "the deceiver"

2- Talbis Iblis means "tricks of Satan"
in Arabic تلبيس ابليس
is a book written by Ibn al Jawzee (a radical Muslim thinker who became a symbol of new extreme movements in Muslim world, especially in Saudi Arabia) that is aimed at warning people how Satan cheats them

3- Gulshan-i-Raz
a collection of Persian Sufi poems, that are mysterious and spiritual (reminder: Persians or Iranians, and they speak Persian which is not Arabic, but they use a very similar alphabet to the Arabic one)

4- Zat-i-Shaitan : literally:"the being of the shaitain"
this is Arabic and it means "Satan himself"

finally, the words don't mean anything specific, and they don't lead to a goal. They are general random words, that I think are meant to draw attention (for those who don't understand them) and shock (those who do), and in this concept they are quite good.

btw, i think the song is one of the greatest, and I dare anyone not to head-bang to it

Nice, this song has been stuck in my head for a week now. Also awesome to play it along with the cd on your guitar!
Take what you can, give nothing back!

I'm arabic , and can tell that zat i-shaitan , means " the demon entity" (in arabic) , but can't understand exactly  the first word " El-awer" : may be the arabic word for "blind" (from one eye) , talbis in arabic means "confusion" , and Iblis is the "lord" of all shaitan (in islamic religion) , the devil .
no idea about "gulshani" .
other non-arabic muslims , uses lot of arabic words , wich means that the language used here , is possibly kurdish or persian...

أهلا وسيم ..
أردت أن أشكرك على جوابك الوافي حول كلمات الأغنية ، لم أكن قد اطلعت بعد على تعليقك ، و لو فعلت لما كنت تجرأت على تقديم شرح بإنجليزيتي العرجاء .
