Live Bootleg
« on: January 15, 2011, 06:56:27 PM »

What is crazy is that Abraxas is totally perfect. I mean it sounds better than a lot of the actual live CDs and there are several versions of the same recording but "mixed" differently. I'm not sure which one I like best so I put that one on there. Enter Vril-ya sounds awsome, Ljalfsheim is awsome but I still hope they do another recording of that. Clavicula Nox is an allright recording I listened to it a lot and enjoyed it but its such a beautiful version I wish they would make a better recording. Other than that I couldn't find any good recordings of the other songs and I have probably listened to thousands of youtube videos. Almost all of them.

Perennial Sophia is a good recording but they guy isn't playing the bass right on this one! Still good I guess.

Also some songs I thought sounded good at first after listening over and over again they didn't. But abraxas- amazing.

My plea that I'm begging Christofer Johnson to do:

I think the best option for a live album release would be the following:

Record two different tours (for example the Sitra Ahra tour and then the tour for the next CD afterwards). Then release a two disc live CD but have one disc from one tour and one disc from the other tour. Each disc cuts out a lot of songs and only contains the very best songs, the most unique, ones that were not played before etc. So this tour CD would look something like:

1.   Sitra Ahra
2.   Typhon
3.   Hellequin
4.   Nifelheim
5.   Siren of the Woods (released live before but the flute version is unique this song might be cut if not enough room though)
6.   Voyage of Gurdjieff
7.   Dies Irae
8.   Call of Dagon
9.   Clavicula Nox
10.   Abraxas

Also add a new never before released therion song (maybe 2) and also a new cover song or two (maybe another wagner or something with a lot of classical in it) and make it a special album. Similar to Crowning of Atlantis but a lot better this time. That way more people will buy it than just a regular live release.

And if there is room maybe throw in some more commonly played live song. This way it will probably be 4 years or so between live CD releases and also this release would be a far more interesting one to buy because it has more interesting never before played songs rather than buying every live CD and listening to To Mega Therion and other songs that are exactly the same (even though sometimes its cool to hear the same song on different CDs once you get up into have 3 or more live CDs the same songs start to get old).

I mean because fans like me I like to get a good live version of every song I like (which is basically all of them though some I want more than others). So for us this would be an extra good release because it would have a lot more new songs. Also on top of totally new studio tracks and some new cover songs- definately an interesting buy!!

But take for instance Clavicula Nox on this tour. It's just too well composed, too beautiful not to release a recording of this.

So I took abraxas live and used an audio program to filter the sound, run an EQ through it etc. It made a huge differance! Sounds a lot better. I normalized the volume also.

Then I took Path to Arcady and sped the song up and added distortion to it sounds awsome.

I like the crappy sound, it really goes with the whole 70s analog theme of sitra ahra.

I just need some better recordings of some of the other songs. Only abraxas, enter vril ya and Ljualfsheim sound descent.

Anyway if someone would actually get a good recorder in there for the upcoming shows I have a professional program that is made for fixing up live recordings like that. Yes the limitations of the recording still are there but the sound is much better and fuller after I run the EQs through it.

It also speeds up and slows down songs without changing pitch and can change the pitch of songs. So I was thinking about slowing down some songs and turning them into death.
